This Month in Boys Basketball


Boys basketball took a tough loss at the brickhouse against the Bemidji Lumberjacks, on January 5th. With only one minutes to go, the game was tied, 68-68. Bemidji ran the clock down, and with only a second to go, we fouled. Bemidji made a freethrow and won it all, 68-69. Junior Brady Hoffard led the scoreboard with 29 points, and following him was Colton Koestner with 10, and junior Blake Boen with 9 points towards the Prowlers. Before the varsity game, JV won, 64-57.

On January 8th, the Prowler boys played Grand Rapids at home, beating them 65-47. Leading the scoreboard was junior Brady Hoffard with 17 points, and senior Carter Ueland with 11. JV won by

three, 50-47.

The Prowlers took a win at home on January 9th, playing Cloquet. Senior Cole Johnson made 16 points, along with junior Brady Hoffard, making 12. The game ended with a victorious 69-58. The Cloquet Lumberjacks beat junior varsity to a close game, 43-47.

The Prowlers hit the road to Grand Forks, on January 11th, and took a big win, 57-41, after stretching the lead 37-23 at halftime. Junior Payton Graham led the scoreboard with 14 points, junior Blake Boen followed with 9, and senior Cole Johnson, junior Brady Hoffard, and senior Matt Pearce each got 8 a piece. JV had a huge win, 56-39.

Boys basketball got the edge of a close game, on January 12th, versus DGF. Winning by three (43-40), the Prowlers defended the brick house with the help of junior forward Brady Hoffard, who pitched in 11 points, and junior guard Payton Graham, who scored 8 points. Junior varsity also took a win, 45-35.

On January 22nd, the Prowler boys headed to Sartell to kickstart their overnighter down in the cities. We were winning, but the game was tight, 24-21 at halftime. We lost our touch after playing the second half, losing 45-51 in overtime. Junior varsity won, 65-63 against Sartell. On January 23, varsity lost to Albany, 40-66, although we were only down by two early in the second half. Junior varsity also lost, 44-37.

On January 26th, boys basketball showed EGF how to play it right. The freshmen team started parents night right, winning 43-32. Junior varsity followed, and won, 70-32. During varsity, the Prowlers weren’t looking back, the scoreboard at 42-20. We ended the night with a successful win 81-36. Junior Payton Graham accounted for 15 points, junior Brady Hoffard with 13, seniors Carter Ueland and Isaac Olson both scored 10
