Prowler Girls Basketball Goes to State, and Takes 3rd Overall!

Prowler girls basketball played Hutchinson on Tuesday, March 15th for the Section AAA Quarterfinals at State. The Prowlers, who weren’t seeded, won 61-59 against the first seed. This has never been done before in Minnesota State Girls Basketball history! The last half started with the Prowlers winning, 27-22. Soon after, Senior Jenna Tadych and Sophomore Tiahna Nicholson fouled out, but the Prowlers proved their versatility by holding on to their lead! The scoreboard was lead by Kylea Praska with 23 points, Tiahna Nicholson with 17, and Meleah Biermaier scoring 10 towards the Prowlers.

On Thursday, March 17th, Prowler girls basketball played the Academy of Holy Angels at Williams Arena for the Section Semis. At the half, the score was 23-31, with the Prowlers down by eight. Although the game ended with the Prowlers losing, 55-42, the Prowlers maintained respect. Leading the scoreboard was Kylea Praska, who had a total of 14 points, along with Tiahna Nicholson and Jenna Tadych, each scoring 10. The Academy of Holy Angels ended up getting first in the class 3AAA tournament, winning their final game against Winona, 51-43.

On Saturday, March 19th, a game featuring the Thief River Falls Prowlers and the Becker Bulldogs was held at Concordia University for the Section 3AAA finals. With the help of band members and all the Prowler fans in the stands, the Prowlers won, 56-42, and claimed 3rd place in Class 3AAA! Tiahna Nicholson lead the scoreboard for the Prowlers, with 23 points, and Meleah Biermaier followed, scoring 10. Prowler girls basketball finished their season with an outstanding 27-4 record!To top that all off, Kylea Praska and Tiahna Nicholson were placed on the Class 3AAA All Tournament Team!
