Lincoln's Reaction to the Election

Time is up and the newest President of the United States of America has been officially elected. By this time everyone in America, and let’s be honest most of the rest of the world, knows that our new Commander and Chief will be Donald Trump. This final count has caused, what is an understatement to say, an uproar. Even here in the school we are extremely divided, some celebrating and others mourning. Before this election took place we’ve had a few polls for students to take, and right after it the Prowler Post had one of it’s own. When asked the question “Did the candidate you were rooting for win?” The answer “no” won out by only a majority of 51.8%. Minnesota has been a democratic state for a long time now, but in our region we’ve been a lot more divided, so this close result makes sense. Feelings in general on the election were also incredibly divided, with only about 10% separating those who felt “Great” and those who felt “Awful” about the turnout. About twenty-two percent of those who replied said that they were in fact planning on moving to Canada. Now, no matter how facetious that answer may be, it does clearly show this to be one of the most controversial elections in American history. How do you think this will affect the future of our country?
