A New Tradition at LHS

A new Snofest tradition has arrived at Lincoln. Last week, Mr. Zutz sent out an email to the student body with a video attached. This video showed a tradition known as “Silent Night” being practiced by schools around the country. So, for Snofest, it was brought to Lincoln.

During the boy’s basketball game against Detroit Lakes this past Tuesday night, LHS students arrived wearing anything from a sombrero to a hotdog costume. They sat in silence, not cheering until the 10th point was scored. When it was, they went wild. About halfway through the game, Cooper Sorvig, a senior at Lincoln directed the student section in singing “Silent Night”. Later on, “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” was sung- at this point, the other team looked slightly confused.

Sadly, the amount of enthusiasm from the crowd didn’t have much of an impact on the game as the Prowlers lost 49-63. Nonetheless, it was a good game with a lot of cheering from the students. Even if sports and going to games aren’t your favorite thing to do, showing support and participating is something you won’t regret.
