Freshman Boys Hockey Interviews

Sometimes if you don’t play a certain sport, but like to watch it, you may not know many of the players on the team, especially if they aren’t in your grade. These interviews serve as a way to let you get to know the future members of your Prowler hockey team.

Q. How old were you when you started playing hockey?`

A. 4 years old

Q. Why did you start playing hockey?

A. Parents made me

A. My parents

Q. What position do you play?

A. Forward

Q. Who’s your favorite NHL player?

A. Pavel Datsyuk

Q. What drills would you recommend to other players wanting to improve stick handling?

A. Repetition. If you’re on the ice, I recommend just skating with the puck.

Q.What is your typical practice routine like?

A. Some skating, some skating with pucks, some shooting with pucks, and conditioning

Q.What has been the best moment in your career so far?

A. When I got pinned up on the boards and turned pro for 5 seconds and went through 3 guys.

Q. What do you plan on doing after high school?

A. Nothing, possibly try out for a college team

A. 3 years old

A. My dad brought me out to the ice with my brother.

A. My Dad

A. Defense

A. Scotts Stevens, Niklas Kronwall and Shea Weber

Q. What would you recommend to other players to prepare for stick handling foes?

A. Stay on the inside of the face-off dots and keep them to the outside and watch the body, not the puck.

Q. What is your typical practice routine like?

A. Warm up skating, warm up goalies, drills, fun games to end it off

Q. What has been the best moment in your career so far?

A. Going to Regions in our Peewee A year

Q. What do you plan on doing after high school?

A. Go to college and focus on my career

Q. What drills would you recommend to other players wanting to improve stick handling?

A. Grab some cones, put them in a position you want them at, skate full speed and do quick moves

Q. What is your typical practice routine like?

A. Warm up skating, then we warm up goalies, drills, and then we do fun games

Q. What has been the best moment in your career so far?

A. Coming to Thief River Falls and skating with this incredible team

Q. What do you plan on doing after high school?

A. Trying out for UND and if that doesn’t work out, work on my business career

A. Just easy stickhandling drills but repetition is key

A. Just keep your body in front of them

A. Laid back but when stuff is needed to get done we bear down

A. Coming back from a three goal lead to go to regions

A. Go to a four year [university]

A. Juggling

A. Shots on us down low, shoot on us high, small area games

A. Warm up then, power play and penalty kill then small area games

A. Use plexiglass and practice a lot

A. Easy going

Q. What drills would you recommend to other players wanting to improve stick handling?

A. A drill where you go as fast as you can and stick handle through cones for a minute

Q. What is your typical practice routine like?

A. Shoot around, St Louis drill, 2 on 3 small area games, 5 on 5 while defensive players have their sticks turned around, powerplay and penalty kill, sometimes shoot out

Q. What has been the best moment in your career so far?

A. Making peewee A my second year

Q. What do you plan on doing after high school?

A. Going to college and trying to get a coaching degree and a high school teaching job
